How Kpop Re-captured me through SM Best Rookie AESPA
The day when my Colleague introduced SHINee to me, it was late in the afternoon our professor is not around, we're all bored, this classmate of mine called my attention saying we must watch this KPOP boy group's "Hello" MV, SHINee Minho captivated me with his visuals, this was 11 years ago.
It was the time that Visuals get me like even if I just heard the song playing for about 30 seconds, I'm not sure at that moment if it's a "BOP". that's what they call it nowadays. It likes surprisingly good and will be a major hit in KPOP music. Feel free to watch the video below. Skip if you don't want to.
I'm not sure if I officially took a break from Kpop really.
When was the last time you've been captured by a Titled article captioned as "There are two rappers in a four-membered girlGroup rookie from SM" then you searched for the name of the group”
The fact that they are SM's new creation interests me. After SHINee, I never had the chance to stan any particular group despite the fact that there are a lot of them with amazing potential and that's pretty much obvious just like with EXO and Red Velvet.
Music (esp. beat), Music Video, Visuals entices me
It really depends on the viewer how he/she consider a song a bop. I don't have specific criteria for what to look at and expect from a song really, what I think maybe because I mostly look for newness, fresh concept and weird but surprising approach in a certain song. That's me.
Aespa Aesthetics
"What makes you unique? " Be Original they said.
source: hackernoon.com
What makes you unique? Have you found your voice? Be original. It almost doesn’t matter what the question is. If it relates to growth or success or leading people, the answer’s a mix of regurgitated self-help listicles and the command to be original. That’s just crazy.
Descartes, I believe it was, said that there was no such thing as an original thought. Nothing’s new. Everything’s been used, added to, or reduced. The ironic part is that Socrates said the same thing more than 2,000 years earlier.
Clearly there’s some legitimacy to the sentiment.
When people say “be original,” — they don’t realize this — they don’t mean “do something entirely new that no one has ever fathomed before.” They really mean “be different.” If you’re just copying other people, why would anyone pay attention to you instead of to those other (probably better) people? Being original isn’t about being new. It’s about being different from everyone else doing what you do in your time and field.
I'm currently reading a book right before I've known I discovered Aespa, it was written by Edward T. Hall entitled "The Hidden Dimension" way back in 1966, The following excerpt got me intrigued:
Knowledged of the cultural dimension as vast complex of communication on many levels would be virtually unnecssary if it were not for two things: 1. our increasing involvements with people in all parts of the world and 2. the mixing of subcultures within our own country as peple fpeopleural areas and foreign countries pour into our cities:.
why I created the username for my socials dedicated to Aespa as AespaAesthetics For so many reasons I can't seem to deduce what I specifically love about Aespa at all. It's like it can never be just two things or five it's growing and somehow I just can't explain it all in just one sitting. It's like a story that you never wanted to unlock and to end.
The Concept that keeps me going: The Hidden Dimension
“Our storyline line is now not just one team, but a universal storyline that is shared by all our artists.”
regards to SMCU, “SMCU is not simply a storyline that interpreted as a symbol or metaphor, but through storytelling contents that include attractive characters and stories through the artists’ music.”
"This is the next wave in storytelling, a true reflection of our ever-changing times that bridges culture with technology," Teddy Zee, a Hollywood producer and media and tech consultant based in Los Angeles, told ABC News. "It brilliantly mixes music with live-action anime, video games, virtual reality, augmented reality, artificial intellintel intelligentsoc, ial media into the ultimate entertainment experience designed for a new generation of fans and consumers. It is truly next level."
This how I connect the Hidden Dimension to SM Culture Universe
The Story Started with Aespa: Lee Soo Man
Now I’m one step closer to the future entertainment world. This year again, through the new girl group aespa, I realized SMCU, the vision for the future entertainment world, and as before, newer, innovative, and more. I would like to ask for more interest in the future entertainment world that I and SM will continue to create, and for more support for the cultural industry, which is Korea’s core competitiveness. As a producer, I would like to move beyond Korea and Asia to the wider world, such as North America, South America, and Europe, based on music that has global competitiveness and makes K-POP known and grow further. I ask for your support and interest.
— Lee Soo Man
During the WCIF 2021 Producer Lee Soo Man interviewed AESPA: SM Congress 2021: Aespa with LSM
I love how Aespa reacted when LSM told them
were the ones who started this culture, the SMCU. And OMG the Possible movie 😍😍😍 and Aespa being quiet 🤗 I love these surprises. Let's focus on the present and hope the best for the future even though we know the past might resurface let's widen and appreciate this perspective. #generation#aespa#kpop#smcu
I'll just leave it here:
"Aespa is not only a girl group, but aespa is also a concept, aespa is kpop revolution, aespa is the future". - Teddy Zee
